The importance of winning Judicial races should not be overlooked on any given election year. Matt Rinaldi, who is the Republican nominee for the 191st Civil District Court, stressed the importance of judicial races when he spoke to the Dallas YRs at the Blue Mesa on Monday, May 17th .
As Rinaldi explained in his speech, state district courts are places where many legal issues with constitutional implications are first trotted out into the court system. Important issues, such as those related to 2nd Amendment rights and property rights, often have their origins in state district courts. The competence of and political leanings of the judge overseeing those cases can be and often is a key factor in determining how those cases are decided and how far they matriculate through the court system.
“Almost any case that can be brought into a federal court can also be brought into a state court system,” explained Rinaldi. One of the few exceptions is patent law.
Because local judicial candidates often do not have the name recognition that candidates in legislative races and county-wide races have, voters sometimes ignore them on the November ballots. Making Dallas County a red county again will mean eventually taking back most of the judicial seats that it lost in 2006 and 2008.
“What we need is a down-ballot repudiation of the Democratic ticket,” explained Rinaldi.
Expect to hear that same message often repeated from now until November. In recent decades, we have seen the politicalization of the judiciary and rampant judicial activism permeating American courts. Getting Republicans elected to judgeships is part of the bigger picture of upholding the ideals of constitutionally correct and limited government. According to Rinaldi, it is the duty of every judge to consistently apply the law as it is written and to refrain from “legislating from the bench” by allowing personal policy preferences to influence his or her decision-making.
The Dallas County Young Republicans are proud to announce their support for Matt Rinaldi and other candidates that will bring conservative principles back to the bench in Dallas County. Dallas YRs encourage you to volunteer, display a yard sign, and spread the word to friends and co-workers about the candidacy of Matt Rinaldi in the general election.

The argument goes this Obama wants to reach out to a demographic that wouldn’t normally vote in midterm elections unless the candidates performed screeching, off-key covers of Whitney Houston tracks. Wasn’t it just last week that the media was slamming Obama for “demeaning” the office belonging to the President of north america by appearing on the Daily Show? I can’t wait to help hear what the pearl-clutchers in the media have to say about it latest GOTV effort by the President.
