National Young Republican Leadership Conference Wrap-Up

by Dallas YR ~ July 19th, 2010. Filed under: YRNF.

Just a quick wrap-up from this past week in DC!

What I brought back:

We need to be running and effecting our local government just as much as coming together. The Republican party is more open than ever to young insight, so don’t wait, get involved now. Remember if you want to work on a campaign or participate in Dallas County Young Republican, we can help you get involved!

Chicago’s Impact:

Chicago YRs are the largest club within the Untied States with 1000 members. They gave an amazing presentation and we will be using some of their tips to start to have a similar impact in Dallas County. Be prepared to hear more about this soon (Chicago leadership has offered to work with us directly so we’re very excited!)

Changing Times:

The author’s panel was one of the best events in DC. Three YRs discussed their books, Dan Joseph wrote Generation Right, a book on how Obama’s message enticed Gen Y and what we can as conservatives can do. Andre Harper wrote Political Emancipation about his experiences as a Black American and the challenges of becoming conservative. And finally, David Breuhan wrote Spread the Wealth a short book about how socialism will not work in America. All these books were from very smart young people whose names you will probably see much more of in the coming years.

Taking Back Congress

Its what’s on everyone’s mind. The focus in the 2010 election needs to be how we can get a majority in the House, only then can we stop all the liberal legislation that the American people are not for!

Republican or Tea Party?

Common theme of the week was where the tea party belongs. Its an important question as the tea party’s power within the party grows and start to run their own candidates.

CONGRATS TO CHELSEA!

Our State Chairman, Chelsea Chapman, won the Woman of the Year award!

Next YRNF event will be in San Diego in November.
