Texas Young Republican Federation State Convention 2010 – Tips

These tips were sent to the Club Chairmans, but wanted to share so you know how things work!

Tips on Being Successful For Convention 2010
30 Days before Convention:

Club President or Secretary Should Mail The Following To Credentials Chair:

  • Updated Roster
  • Check For Dues ($2 Per Member)
  • Copy Of Club Constitution

Mail MUST Be Postmarked By the 30th Day Before Convention (Which Is July 6th)

Failure to Send Credentials In On Time Will Cost Club half (1/2) of Delegate Strength!!!!

Delegate Strength is One (1) Delegate and One (1) Alternate per 10 Members at the time of Submission (If you credential with less than 10 members, you are still allotted One (1) Delegate and One (1) Alternate)

You May Email Roster and Constitution to Credentials Chair as a back up, but Everything Must Be Sent By USPS Postmarked No Later Than July 6th

Note to New Clubs Federated After Jan.1 2010: You Will Only Have To Submit a Check For State Dues IF You Have Added Additional Members Since You Were Federated, But You Will Need To Re-Submit Roster and Constitution!

Every Club is allowed One (1) Committee Member per Committee

Committee Meetings Are Friday Afternoon of Convention and Start at 3pm

Committee Members Do NOT Have To Be Delegates To Serve!

What to Know For Awards Committee:

Awards Clubs Can Submit For:

Awards Submitted Must Have a Brief Statement Naming Awards Submitted for and how it/they have benefited TYRF!

  1. Club of the Year
  2. New or Phoenix Club of the Year
  3. Man of the Year
  4. Woman of the Year
  5. Newsletter of the Year
  6. Website of the Year
  7. Community Service Project of the Year
  8. Event of the Year

Submissions Must Be Emailed To Committee Chair within Two (2) Weeks before Convention at the Discretion Of The Chairs.

Prepare for a Presentation to Be Given at Committee Meeting that night, presentation times given out by chairs!

More Details Will Be Emailed To Club Presidents by Chairs!

*ALL OTHER DETAILS ABOUT OTHER COMMITTEES WILL BE EMAILED OUT TO CLUB PRESIDENTS BY SAID CHAIRS*

Convention Weekend:

*If you are On a Committee, Please arrive before 3pm On Friday Afternoon.

*Delegates MUST Be Seated On Convention Floor at the Start of Convention to Vote

*It Is IMPORTANT To Register Online For the Convention BEFORE Convention Weekend So That an Accurate Count Can Be Made, and Ease Of Check-In!

*Convention Day Dress is Usually Business to Business Casual. Gala Night Is Dress Up Night, Girls in Dresses, and Guys in Either Tuxes or Suits. Committee Meetings & Board Meeting is be yourself and Comfortable!

*REMEMBER to HAVE FUN, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, BE YOURSELF!!!
