The annual Air Power Symposium of the Military History Center at the University of North Texas serves as a “must see” annual update on the most dynamic dimension of modern conflict – aerospace warfare.  Peter W. Singer will be the keynote speaker for the 2nd Annual Air Power Symposium:  Wired for War on April 20th from 11:30a-1:00p, at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
Dr. Peter Singer is among the world’s leading experts on change in 21st century warfare. He is Senior Fellow and Director of the 21st Century Defense Initiative at the Brookings Institution; indeed he is the youngest scholar named Senior Fellow in Brookings’s 90-year history. He is also a founder and organizer of the U.S.-Islamic World Forum, a global conference that brings together leaders from across the US and the Muslim world.

His first book Corporate Warriors: the Rise of the Privatized Military Industry (2003) has sold over 40,000 copies.  Dr. Singer’s second book, Children at War (2005), was the first book to comprehensively explore the compelling and tragic rise of child soldier groups. Dr. Singer’s most recent book, Wired for War (2009), looks at the implications of robotics and other new technologies for war, politics, ethics, and law in the 21st century. It was named a non-fiction Book of the Year by The Financial Times, and sheds new light on the capabilities of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), as well as the implications of America’s growing reliance on pilotless drones, which will be the focus of this timely and cutting-edge symposium.   Wired for War has earned international acclaim, and made Singer the “go to guy” in the media, at the Pentagon, the war colleges, and in foreign capitals as well.  Peter Singer will explain the 21st century changes in warfare like you’ve never heard them explained before.
