In response to an email plea from Michelle Obama for hosts, Richard Morgan (Vice President of Programming for the Dallas County Young Republicans) stepped in to fill the gap. His SOTU watch event was quickly approved on the OFA website, and shortly thereafter reached the capacity of of invited guests after an Obama campaign email advertised the event to the President’s supporters in the Dallas area. However, Mr. Morgan’s event was probably not quite what Michelle Obama or OFA had in mind - a drinking game to poke fun at the President’s failed policies and his Vice President’s uncanny mannerisms. The event quickly made national news through a story on Examiner.com, prompting an embarrassed OFA to remove the event from its website.

Morgan said the SOTU watching party will still go forward, noting ”I was encouraged to hear Obama say last week that the economy is now his priority. I wonder why that wasn’t the case four years ago” and that he thinks “the lasting effect of Obama’s presidency will be that a lot of independent-leaning young people who bought into his promise of hope and change will find themselves disappointed and wary of the Democrats’ offerings.”

For the complete story and screen shots of the now-pulled event on the OFA website click on over to Examiner.com.
