<p>We will have the privilege of hosting  <strong>special guest speaker Craig James</strong>. Mr. James is a former SMU Mustang football standout, businessman and now candidate for the U.S. Senate from Texas. This will be a unique opportunity to meet and hear from the newest entrant in the U.S. Senate race. Have a conservative friend who may not be involved in politics? This event will be the ideal opportunity to bring someone who might not otherwise be interested in YR&#8217;s and introduce them to what we are all about!</p>
<p>Our monthly meeting will be from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. and will be held at our regular location – the Londoner Bar and Grill in uptown, located at 2909 Thomas Ave., Dallas, Texas 75204.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Our 2012 Executive Board Elections will be held on the same night as our regular monthly meeting in January:</p>
<p>Monday, January 9, 2012, 6:00-9:00 pm<br />

<p>Following is the list of elected positions and their descriptions, as written in our Club By-Laws:</p>
<p><strong>ARTICLE V &#8211; OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS</strong></p>
<p><strong>Section 1. Elected Officers.</strong></p>
<p><strong>a. President.</strong><br />
i. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Club. The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Club and shall exercise general supervision over the work and activities of the Club. The President shall perform such other duties as usually pertain to the office of the President and shall be deemed an ex-officio member of all committees.<br />
ii. The President, with the advice of the Executive Committee, is authorized and given continuing authority to conduct the affairs of the Club in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.<br />
iii. The President shall make recommendations and oversee the Club’s relationship with youth political organizations and other Republican affiliate organizations.</p>
<p>Additional responsibilities.<br />
a. To supervise and coordinate the activities of the Club in conjunction with the Executive Committee;<br />
b. To appoint committees, committee chairs, and committee members;<br />
c. To create and terminate non-elected offices and appoint persons to such positions;<br />
d. To set the initial agenda for meetings, and to preside at all regular meetings and Executive Committee meetings;<br />
e. To call, give proper notice of, set the agenda for, and preside at not fewer than eight Executive Committee meetings per year;<br />
f. To exercise any other powers or duties customarily associated with such office.</p>
<p><strong>b. Vice President of Programming.</strong><br />
i. The Vice President of Programming (“VPP”) shall secure speakers and/or topics for meetings to create value for members.<br />
ii. The VPP shall supervise and direct the Community Service Director, the Social Director, and the Social Media Director.<br />
iii. The VPP shall perform such other duties as may be designated by the President.</p>
<p><strong>c. Vice President of Membership.</strong><br />
i. The Vice President of Membership (“VPM”) may, at the behest of the President, design and implement a sponsor program wherein new members are matched with an existing, active member.<br />
ii. The VPM shall maintain all member records and spreadsheets including those necessary for credentialing with TYRF; and shall continuously update these records to reflect changes in member record information to reflect additions of new members or changes in existing member information.<br />
iii. The VPM shall manage the credentialing of the club, assign delegates and make the committee assignments for the yearly TYRF convention under the advisement of the President.<br />
iv. The VPM may, at the behest of the President, be responsible for writing and submitting press releases on behalf of the Club.<br />
v. The VPM shall supervise the Recruitment Director and the Technology Director and shall perform such other duties as may be designated by the President.</p>
<p><strong>d. Vice President of Treasury.</strong><br />
i. The Vice President of Treasury (“VPT”) shall receive, deposit and account for the funds of the Club under the supervision and direction and control of the Executive Committee.<br />
ii. The VPT shall maintain a checking account and PayPal account on behalf of the Club and shall maintain all financial records of the Club. The checking account of the Club shall require the signature of the VPT or the President.<br />
iii. The VPT shall make an annual financial report to the Executive Committee during the first meeting following officer elections as well as at the regular meeting immediately prior to officer elections the following year. The VPT, at the Executive Committee meeting following his or her election, shall submit a budget for his or her term, subject to the approval of the Executive Committee.<br />
iv. The VPT shall disperse the Club funds, as directed by the President in accordance with the budget approved by the Executive Committee, as well as develop, direct and implement fundraising plans of the Club.<br />
v. The VPT, at the request of the President, shall organize and implement at least one fundraising event for the Club each year; shall maintain a list of past and potential donors; and shall perform such other duties as may be designated by the President.</p>
<p><strong>e. Community Service Director.</strong><br />
i. The Community Service Director (“CSD”) shall apprise the Club of all volunteer opportunities in the community. When necessary or requested, he or she shall organize volunteers for functions.<br />
ii. The CSD shall organize at least one community service activity for the Club per year that relates to the values of the Club.<br />
iii. The CSD shall organize people and activities to assist in implementing the majority of the YRNF and TYRF initiatives as they are presented throughout the year.<br />
iv. The CSD shall serve as the liaison between the Club and various community organizations, and shall perform such other duties as may be designated by the President.</p>
<p><strong>f. Social Director.</strong><br />
i. The Social Director (“SD”) shall organize all Club activities other than monthly meetings to encourage the building of a young, professional community network of Young Republicans.<br />
ii. The SD shall work with the VPT to organize the annual fundraiser, if one is requested by the President.<br />
iii. The SD shall organize an annual holiday party for the Club.<br />
iv. The SD shall work with the Recruitment Director to ensure all new members and attendees are brought in to the social network of the Club and shall perform such other duties as may be designated by the President.</p>
<p><strong>g. Recruitment Director.</strong><br />
i. The Recruitment Director (“RD”) shall host a welcome area at every monthly meeting and other appropriate functions wherein member and guest information can be gathered and reported to the club.<br />
ii. The RD shall contact all visitors and inquirers in a timely manner to answer all questions and inform them of upcoming activities.<br />
iii. Along with the President, the RD shall serve as a liaison to various political, business and community organizations for the purpose of spreading our message and recruiting new members, and shall perform such other duties as may be designated by the President.</p>
<p><strong>h. Information Director.</strong><br />
i. The Information Director (“ID”) shall be the recording and correspondence officer of the Club.<br />
ii. The ID shall attend all meetings of the Club and all conventions of the membership of the Club and shall act as ID thereof.<br />
iii. The ID shall perform such additional duties as are requested by the President. All correspondence is subject to the approval of the President.</p>

<p><strong>The procedure for our elections, as written in our Club By-Laws is:</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Section 3. Procedure for Elections.</strong> The following procedures shall apply to election of officers and directors:</p>

<ol>
<li><strong>a.       </strong><strong>Date and time.</strong> Elections for Officers and Directors shall be conducted during the regular meeting held in the month of January of each year, unless an alternate date and time is approved by a majority of the Active Members.</li>
</ol>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>b.       </strong><strong>Petition. </strong>The Information Director must receive a written notification from a candidate for a given elected office of the Club at least ten (10) days prior to the meeting held for election of officers and directors in order to be placed on the written ballot.  Any member for whom such a notification is not received must be nominated from the floor in order to be placed on the ballot.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ol>
<li><strong>c.        </strong><strong>Order of Election. </strong>All Elected Officers and Elected Directors shall be elected in the order in which they are listed in this Article.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ol>
<li><strong>d.       </strong><strong>Voting.</strong> Voting shall be by secret ballot, in writing.  Election shall be by a simple majority of all the Active Members present.  There is no requirement for a quorum for elections.  If a majority is not obtained on the ballot for any office, an immediate run-off election shall be held between the two candidates receiving the most votes on the previous ballot.  Any candidate who is unopposed may be elected by acclamation.</li>
</ol>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>e.        </strong><strong>Campaign Speeches.</strong> Prior to voting in any election, the President shall set a time limit for all campaign speeches for that office, and shall inform all candidates of the limit.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ol>
<li><strong>f.        </strong><strong>Election Judge and Tellers. </strong>The President may appoint an Election Judge from among the Active Members to conduct the election and may appoint tellers from among the Active Members, who shall dispense, collect and tabulate the ballots.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong></strong><strong>Section 4.  Limitations on Holding Elected Office.</strong>  Subject to the other provisions of this Section, only Active Members of the Club may run or be nominated for any elected office.  The following additional limitations shall apply to any person holding elected office in the Club:</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ol>
<li><strong>a.       </strong><strong>Holding Multiple Offices Simultaneously. </strong>No person may hold two elected offices simultaneously.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ol>
<li><strong>b.       </strong><strong>Serving as President and as Chair of the TYRF. </strong>No person shall serve simultaneously as President of the Club and as the Chair of the Texas Young Republican Federation (“TYRF”).  This shall not preclude a person holding the office of President of the Club from running for TYRF Chair, however, before accepting the position of Chair, either by election or by succession, the Chair-Designate must resign his or her position as President of the Club within thirty days following election or succession.</li>
</ol>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>c.        </strong><strong>Qualification to Cast a Vote for Officer.</strong>  No person shall be entitled to cast a vote for any person running for an office of the Club unless he or she has been an Active Member for a period equal to or greater than 30 days.</li>
</ol>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>d.       </strong><strong>Qualification on Running for Elected Office</strong>.  A person must be a voting member of the Club to run for an office of the Club.</li>
</ol>
